As reflected in our Mission Statement, Najít Technologies is dedicated to the development of rapid, field-usable diagnostic assays and vaccines for diseases that affect developing countries. Our goal is to develop these products for diseases that affect large numbers of people in these endemic countries. These diseases have not received adequate attention as demonstrated by the so-called "10/90" gap which describes the existing scenario where less than 10% of healthcare funding is spent on diseases that affect more than 90% of the world-wide disease burden (1). Although recently it appears that this gap is narrowing, there nevertheless continues to be a large discrepancy of proportional healthcare spending between first and third world countries.
To address this need, Najít Technologies is developing rapid diagnostic assays and vaccines for both endemic and newly emerging diseases that affect millions of people in the developing world. Our diagnostic assays will be particularly well suited for use in developing countries as they will be rapid and easy to use without the need for complex instrumentation. Vaccines developed using the HydroVax™ technology will be amendable to shipment with little or no refrigeration, thus making them ideal for use in these countries.
